MOVIN' ON - WEEK FOUR

ANFY LAKE ANIMATION

The first part of this week's assignment was to prepare our own images on which to apply the Anfy Lake Applet. This image was cropped and reduced to the smallest size possible...a bit too much.

Once again, I cannot get past the "white=transparency" part of the second half of the assignment. As before, I am stuck somewhere in the first four paragraphs of Section 4.04 and cannot make the white go away. In fact, sometimes I can't even get the white to show in the first place. *WHINE ~ WHINE*

Starting with the first sentence, first paragraph, Section 4.04:

"Set your bottomcut aside...." means the large picture you just took the topcut from? So "put aside" means minimize the large picture? "...and make the original active again" means the very first picture from which you made a copy way back in the beginning? Or the bottomcut image you just minimized, and if so, why should you "put it aside" in the first place?

Next paragraph: "Promote that Selection..." sounds like that means we are back to the large picture which still has a selection showing to promote to a layer. How it will be a "guide" beats me but I'm willing to go along.

Colors both get set to white. "Make the background (full picture) active"....how? Click on the background layer? And turn off (X-out) the Promoted layer or not?

"Layer/Promote to Layer"...means promote the background to a layer? "Use your Eraser tool...you will actually be erasing in white...,and Density all set to 100."

Well, folks, that doesn't happen with whatever I've tried...no white, zilch! What happens is I am erasing blindly and clicking back and forth between the two layers because the bottom layer (the promoted selection), the one underneath the one I'm trying to erase, is the one being erased and, when I look, it is showing transparent areas where the eraser has happened to happily and accidentally travel over. From there it continues downhill but eventually, using a variety of clever machinations, I get the transparent to turn white but can never get rid of the white, ever again, never, ever!!

Here is the latest...back to trying it with Deb's picture which shows double sky at the top?
